GHHS named as one of Newsweek's 2012 America's Best High Schools

Newsweek / The Daily Beast has named Grand Haven High School in the top 1,000 of American's Best High Schools for 2012.

"We are very excited to receive this recognition," GHHS Principal Tracy Wilson says. "This is a true reflection of the hard work of our students, staff, parents and community's commitment to excellence."

The ranking highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation-the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads. The list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).

"This additional recognition of our high school is an incredible accomplishment for our district and community," Superintendent Keith Konarska says. "We are proud to represent this community."
