Our District
Grand Haven Area Public Schools is one of the finest educational systems in the United States -- in the quality of teaching, administrative personnel, and the excellence of its programs and facilities. The district has enjoyed top-ranking by the North Central Association since 1906. The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education is dedicated to the education of this community's learners. The educational staff is committed and dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and human understanding they will need to contribute positively to modern society. In addition to the educational staff, the district also has an equal number of dedicated employees in the school lunch, transportation, and maintenance programs -- as well as in other areas -- who provide support services for the efficient operation of all school programs. Grand Haven Area Public Schools is a 100-square-mile district including the cities of Grand Haven and Ferrysburg, a portion of Norton Shores in southern Muskegon County, the township of Grand Haven, and portions of the townships of Spring Lake, Port Sheldon, and Robinson. The district includes seven elementary buildings, two middle schools (6-8), and two high schools (9-12). Total K-12 enrollment is just under 6,000 students.
Students in our district receive a wide range of special support services to enhance the quality educational programs. All elementary students receive art, music, and physical education from qualified specialists. Support services for students with special needs are available throughout the district. It is the mission of this district to provide the necessary support and direction to insure the success of all students.
