GH Invitational Volunteer Needs
If you are interested in helping with the Grand Haven Invitational, but are not sure what you can do, please review the following needs.
Band Guide
Each band is assigned an adult guide to assist visiting bands with the Invitational. As a guide you will be given detailed instructions and a schedule. Guides are required to stay with their band from the time the band arrives, until their performance is complete. Guides are responsible to keep the bands on time for warm up and performance. They are also responsible for making sure that the chaperones understand locations of rest rooms and any areas of the High School the students should avoid.
Ticket Sellers
Responsible for taking admission monies and stamping hands of spectators. Volunteers will be positioned in the ticket booth. Must be comfortable with handling money and making change.
Gate Guards
Responsible for making sure spectators have a hand stamp or wrist band to enter the stadium.
Program Sellers
Sell souvenir programs to spectators during the Invitational. Must be comfortable with handling money and making change.
Grandstand Control
Positioned at the entrance/exit locations for the Grandstands. Responsible for ensuring spectators do not enter or exit the grandstands while bands are performing.
Gate Keepers
Positioned at the entrance and exit gates to the Field. Responsible for ensuring that bands enter the field at scheduled times and exit the field properly to ensure an orderly flow of bands.
Raffle Sales
Sell raffle tickets to spectators. Must be very comfortable approaching people to buy tickets and be willing to work the stands. Must be comfortable handling money.
Parking
Help with directing buses and spectators to designated parking areas.
Runners/ General Help
Responsible for running things between headquarters and Press Box, locate people, give breaks to other workers, and just help with any issues that may come up during the event.
Concessions
Help at concessions during the band performances.
