Concert Ensembles

Wind Ensemble

The premier concert performance ensemble of GHHS. Performs at several concerts, district and state MSBOA festival, graduation, outreach performances, and other special engagements. Members are also encouraged to perform in the fall musical pit orchestra as well as the full Symphony Orchestra. Membership by audition only. Private lessons highly recommended. Members of this group also hold joint membership in the Buccaneer Marching Band and Pep Bands.

Symphonic Band

The intermediate concert performance ensemble of GHHS. Performs at several concerts, district MSBOA festival, graduation, and other special engagements. Membership by audition only. Private lessons highly recommended. Members of this group also hold joint membership in the Buccaneer Marching Band and Pep Bands.

Concert Band

The non-­auditioned concert performance ensemble of GHHS. Performs at four concerts and MSBOA district festival. Audition not required for membership. Private lessons highly recommended. Members of this group also hold joint membership in the Pep Bands. Members of Concert Band are not members of the Buccaneer Marching Band.

Buccaneer Big Band (Jazz Band)

The Buccaneer Big Band is a 17-­piece jazz band that meets during “0” hour at GHHS. Performs at numerous concerts, invitationals, swing nights, MSBOA State Jazz Festival and several other engagements. Membership by audition only. Private lessons highly recommended. Auditions in May.

Pep Band

The sound of Buccaneer Basketball and winter athletics. Members of all concert ensembles perform three of six home boys and girls basketball games. Junior and Senior members also have the privilege of traveling with the team in the post season. Our Pep Bands have made appearances at the Breslin Center in East Lansing basketball finals! The Pep Bands have also performed at varsity hockey and volleyball games.
